Documentary Filmmaking Workshops & Festival

The 2021 Carmel Film Forum: Documentary Filmmaking Workshops & Festival was presented virtually for FREE, utilizing the Carmel Clay Public Library's ZOOM account. The filmmaking workshops discussed how to write a compelling personal two-minute documentary film and demonstrate the technology needed for videoing and editing a documentary. The webinar was facilitated by James Moriarty, co-owner and producer of Moriarty Media and Sara O'Sha, Audiovisual Services Supervisor of the Carmel Clay Public Library. James Moriarty taught the technical aspects of filmmaking, hosted the film screenings, and introduced special guests who contributed their filmmaking and film festival judging expert

The webinar was facilitated by James Moriarty, co-owner and producer of Moriarty Media and Sara O'Sha, Audiovisual Services Supervisor of the Carmel Clay Public Library. James Moriarty taught the technical aspects of filmmaking, hosted the film screenings, and introduced special guests who contributed their filmmaking and film festival judging expertise. 

The webinar's participants were asked to make a documentary that was two minutes long and present it to the workshop on July 24. The 2021 Carmel Film Forum concluded with a juried screening of the films created. The winner of the best two-minute documentary received a Canon EOS M50 Mark II with 15-45mm lens, and a RØDE VideoMic Go from Roberts Camera. All participants who completed a two-minute documentary for judging received an expert critique of their film and a ticket to the Indy 2022 Indy Film Fest.

Featured special guests: Imoto Harney, Producer and Director of Photography from Captain Crazy Productions,  Kristy Thompson, Carmel Clay Public Senior Digital Media Lab Specialist, and Nathan Bechtold, President of the Indiana Filmmakers Network

SESSION 3: TWO-MINUTE DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL AND WINNER Q&A
